Get softer, smoother skin with a Dermaplaning treatment at Advanced Aesthetics by Maria!
Dermaplaning is a skin treatment that uses an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your face. It’s also called microplaning or blading. Dermaplaning aims to make your skin’s surface smooth, youthful, and radiant. This treatment claims to remove deep scarring from acne and uneven pockmarks on your skin. It’s also used to remove “peach fuzz,” the short, soft hairs on your face. Dermaplaning allows products to penetrate more effectively resulting in vibrant skin. A great stand-alone treatment or an enhancement to facials, peels and other skincare services. Dermaplaning is suitable for all skin types and no downtime experienced.

How It Works
The basic concept of dermaplaning is the same as shaving. By aiming a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle and dragging it slowly across your skin, you remove dead cells, scar tissue, and other debris that may be making your skin’s surface look uneven.
First, you’ll lie down on our chair in a clean, comfortable room. Sedation options may be available, and these often include a numbing spray or local anesthesia combined with an oral sedative or rarely general anesthesia.
After you’re relaxed, we will use an electronic or manual dermaplaning tool to scrape over your skin at a 45-degree angle. This will continue for 20 to 30 minutes, on average, gently exfoliating the skin.
After the treatment is finished, we will soothe your skin with a substance like aloe. They will also apply sunscreen to protect your face.
• Avoid extreme heat for 3 days.
• Do not use scrubs or other exfoliators for 1 week.
• Avoid chlorine for 1 week.
• Apply serums and moisturizers.
• Use sunscreen.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is a great option for clients with sensitive skin and pregnant women who are looking for a deep exfoliation. It can be performed prior to treatments like facials, laser, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels for better product penetration. It can be performed frequently.
Dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure. Side effects may include slight redness in your face in the hours after getting the treatment. Some people develop whiteheads on their skin in the day or two after dermaplaning.
Shaving the face removes the vellus hair, commonly referred to as “peach fuzz”. Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment, with the added benefit of removing vellus hairs. With dermaplaning, a trained esthetician uses a sterile surgical blade to remove vellus hairs and dead skin cells.
Dermaplaning is recommended every three to four weeks. An aesthetician will help you figure out a schedule. Each time you get dermaplaned, you’re removing about two to three weeks’ worth of dead skin cells.
Dermaplaning also has the added benefits of reducing the appearance of fine lines, evening skin tone and assisting with the reduction of milia, blackheads, whiteheads and congestion associated with breakouts.
Your hair will grow back exactly the same color and thickness as it was previously. It’s simply that after dermaplaning, because you are removing the dead layer of skin and vellus hair, your skin will appear much brighter than you’ve experienced in the past, and then after the regrowth, it seems darker.
A Dermaplaning session takes around 30 minutes and requires no downtime.
Dermaplaning doesn’t hurt at all. It is performed with a gentle scraping motion across the surface of the skin by a skilled aesthetician.
Yes, absolutely. Dermaplaning can actually improve the results of a chemical peel by removing the buildup of dead skin cells and allowing the chemical peel to penetrate deeper.
